SAVING SEA TURTLES, ONE SIP AT A TIME
Lost Years is the spirits brand with a purpose – a range of exceptional rums devoted to saving endangered sea turtles.
Every year thousands of newly hatched sea turtles scurry across tropical beaches and disappear beneath the waves.
They won’t be seen again for up to a decade.
Where they go during these ‘lost years’ is one of nature’s great mysteries, but what we do know is that these ancient creatures are today in danger of extinction and, without our help, could soon be lost forever.
So join us and let’s raise a glass to saving these incredible creatures.
Every drop of Lost Years rum we sell saves baby sea turtles. Working with our charity partner, SEE Turtles, we help fund community-based conservation at key nesting sites across the Caribbean & Latin America. Check out our News pages for stories of some of the amazing conservation projects we've already supported.
In our first year alone, we raised enough money to save over 31,000 sea turtles, but with your help we'll save over 1 million in the next few years!
Sustainable rum
We’ve worked hard to ensure Lost Years is 100% plastic free and are committed to keeping it this way.
The Flexi-Hex packaging we use for customer orders is one of the most eco-friendly options available. Made of FSC certified cardboard, it’s plastic-free, 100% recyclable and has a minimal amount of printed surface. The internal sleeve breaks down and biodegrades readily, is non-toxic and is made of 100% recycled material, which has a lower carbon footprint than using virgin cardboard.
The clear tamper-evident seal on our bottle looks like plastic, but is actually made from plant based cellulose which composts in a matter of weeks. We found the only company in the world that offers this solution.
Rather than opting for a bottle with a thick, heavy glass base like so many of our competitors, we’ve chosen a lighter option to reduce carbon emissions when moving our product. The bottle itself is made of over one third recycled cullet and is itself fully recyclable. We review our supply chain every year to ensure we are using the most eco-friendly products and services available and to ensure our partners share our commitment to sustainability.
