Through our long-term partnership with conservation charity SEE Turtles, and with your support, we'll save at least 1 million baby sea turtles over the next five years.
Funds are raised from each sale of Lost Years rum, with every single bottle generating a donation which will be used to save up to ten hatchlings. The money is being invested in local, community-based initiatives to protect key nesting sites and save sea turtles across the Caribbean and Latin America.
Each bottle sold triggers a charitable donation
With your help we'll save more than 1 million baby sea turtles
Through our partnership with the Ocean Foundation’s Seagrass Grow project, we’re offsetting our carbon emissions by planting seagrass rather than trees.
The Ocean Foundation calculates our carbon emissions annually and we then adjust our contribution in order to offset our carbon footprint. The cash we invest is used to plant and protect seagrass around Puerto Rico.
It captures carbon up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests
It absorbs up to 10 per cent of the ocean’s carbon each year
A football pitch sized area of seagrass can support over 50,000 fish and 700,000 invertebrates
The Flexi-Hex packaging we use for customer orders is one of the most eco-friendly options available. Made of FSC certified cardboard, it’s plastic-free, 100% recyclable and has a minimal amount of printed surface. The internal sleeve breaks down and biodegrades readily, is non-toxic and is made of 100% recycled material, which has a lower carbon footprint than using virgin cardboard.
The clear tamper-evident seal on our bottle looks like plastic, but is actually made from plant based cellulose which composts in a matter of weeks. We found the only company in the world that offers this solution.
Rather than opting for a bottle with a thick, heavy glass base like so many of our competitors, we’ve chosen a lighter option to reduce carbon emissions when moving our product. The bottle itself is made of over one third recycled cullet and is itself fully recyclable. We review our supply chain every year to ensure we are using the most eco-friendly products and services available and to ensure our partners share our commitment to sustainability.
